Why We Teach - No Bully Policy
We teach martial arts for self-defense, out of respect for the artform, and for personal growth. We must NEVER use what we learn to intimidate or bully other people!
General Class Rules
- We always remove our shoes and socks, and stow them neatly with our gear in our entry room. (Martial Arts Shoes are Allowed)
- We always bow when we enter our practice space, and bow when leaving. This shows respect to our school and each other.
- We always greet each other when we enter our space, and say goodbye when we leave.
- We laugh with each other, not at each other.
- When an instructor is speaking we always listen and pay attention.
- Lower belts are not allowed contact without proper sparring gear.
- Higher belts are allowed light contact, harder contact with sparring gear, and grappling is permitted in some settings
If you ever have a question never be afraid to ask. Chances are good someone else has the same question, and it's important to learn how to perform the techniques correctly.
Uniforms
You must wear your uniform when on the mats to show respect and discipline for your classmates and our school. It also prevents your regular clothing from being torn or destroyed during class sessions. At your discretion, the uniform policy is relaxed during the Saturday session to go along with the workshop nature of the class.
Uniform parts and sets are available in the Student Store when the time comes to replace them.
Sparring Gear
Your purchase of sparring gear for class is optional. Sparring during class is generally more educational than about matches or winning. Light contact is allowed with older individuals and higher belt ranks. Generally, this type of contact doesn't require sparring gear and the student is expected to use proper control when striking (which is why light contact is restricted to the higher belts).
Gear is required for almost all tournements. We will also require it if you are practicing for an upcoming tournement. Sparring gear does add a degree of protection, and one can except slightly harder strkes, but injuries can still occurr. Students should maintain control when striking regardless of whether their opponent is wearing sparring gear.
Payments and Contracts
All payents are arranged through our payment provider, Square. You may pay by cash, check, credit or debit card, direct ACH withdrawal, and Cashapp.
When you are setup in our system you will start receiving invoices monthly as a reminder to pay. Through the invoice you may also setup and change automated monthly payments and information if you wish. All credit or debit card and banking information is retained within the Square system. We do not see it or have written record of it anywhere on the premises. This is to protect your privacy and secure your informaiton.
Payments are setup either at the beginning or the middle of the month at your choice. Payment is due the 1st and 15th of the month, and you have a 14 day grace period to pay. If payment is not received the system will automatically remind you of the payment. Failure to pay after the 2nd reminder has been issued may result in your inability to participate in class until the payment is resolved.
Please speak to your instructor if you have issues, problems, or special circumstances. We may be able to make arrangments with you.
